Professor Bruce Thompson new Head of Melbourne School of Health Sciences

We warmly congratulate our esteemed non-executive director, Professor Bruce Thompson on his new role as Head of Melbourne School of Health Sciences, University of Melbourne.

In announcing the appointment, the University highlighted Bruce's over 30 years of experience working in hospitals, universities, the community sector and business. Bruce leaves Swinburne University where he was Dean of Health Sciences.  A familiar face on national television, Bruce also played a significant role during the COVID-19 pandemic as immedite past President of The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ).  

Bruce brings to the School a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organisation management industry, with specialised skills in Epidemiology, Medical Devices and Healthcare Management. 

The University looks forward to harnessing Bruce’s advanced expertise and expansive networks to continue to build and extend the world-class reputation of MSHS in research, learning & teaching and engagement, leading our School into its next phase of growth and strength.
