BioForum - Made in Australia: Victoria's Rapid Response to Manufacturing Demands During the Pandemic

Sponsored by the State Government of Victoria.

Hear all about the incredible NOTUS Emergency Invasive Ventilator program from Grey Innovation's Chairman and Group CEO, Jefferson Harcourt along with Engineering Supply Manager Louisa de Vries as they are joined by consortium partners Serena Ross, General Manager of Circuitwise and Stuart Elliot, Co-CEO and founder of Planet Innovation.

Throughout the response to COVID-19, the sector has witnessed demand for personal protective equipment (PPE), hospital beds and medical equipment.  Furthermore, the pandemic has highlighted the need for, and importance of, keeping advanced manufacturing capabilities grounded in Australia while reducing the sector's reliability on overseas components and expertise.

This BioForum will provide an insight into the sector's rapid response, led by Grey Innovation, to the demand for emergency ventilators and will explore the collaboration, design, manufacturing and supply chain factors that led to the production of the NOTUS emergency ventilator in such an expeditious time frame.

The BioForum will also have a broader discussion on advanced manufacturing and how the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that Australian manufacturers can fill gaps in supply chains. We can make a wide range of products from complicated medical devices such as ventilators, through to relatively simple medical products such as face masks, and everything in between. We'll discuss how governments can boost local manufacturing by providing positive incentives for health purchasing to buy a portion of goods locally.
