After economics and legal studies in Australia and Japan, served as a senior executive and company director with Royal Dutch/Shell group companies in Australia, Japan, Malaysia, the U.K. and South Korea. Experience includes project development and governance, and roles as corporate treasurer, company economist, national retail manager, marketer, deal leader, commercial negotiator, legal advisor, chief operating officer, company president and country chairman. Previously a non-executive director on public company boards in Japan and South Korea, a director of the CO2-free Hydrogen Supply Chain Technology Research Association (HySTRA), and executive committee member of the International Gas Union.
