Until recently Michael was an executive director at Telstra where he held a range of portfolios in network, technology, operations and defence.  As Executive Managing Director, Network & Technology, he was responsible for all of Telstra’s architecture, IT and network delivery and a staff of over 3,000. He has deep knowledge of government engagement and procurement having led Telstra’s engagement with the Department of Defence, being Telstra’s largest customer undertaking at the time.

With high level security clearance and  training in electronic engineering, he has senior experience on the boards of industry bodies and private enterprises.
